Earlier the makers of Vimanam who is making a similar movie on the life of Saji Thomas had filed an injection in Ernakulam Munsiff court against the release of Aby. Vimanam has Prithviraj in the lead. But finally the verdict came in favor of Vineeth Sreenivasan's Aby, the court rejected the complaint filed by Vimanam team. It was a huge relief for the makers of Aby. The stage is now set for its release.

Pradeep Nair has earlier obtained the rights from Mr. Saji Thomas to make a biopic on him. Meanwhile Sreekanth Murali declared this project and went ahead with the production. The script was written by Santhosh Echikannam.

The court has now seen the DVD of Aby and decided to grant it permission to release it. Such a case was rare in Mollywood as it is based on personality rights. In Kollywood Rajanikanth has applied it against using his name in films.
